I have just sold my Honda 250RSA. Owned it for just under twenty years.

Regardless of all the other bikes I owned (I had nine at once some time ago - ages ranging from 1928 to brand new) its the bike I least wanted to sell.

Funny how bikes get under your skin. I never look back when i sell a car.

That's how I feel about my Suzuki Tempter 400, had it 6 years and I doubt I'll ever sell that one, not very fast or very valuable, just means a lot to me to ride it.

Can't go wrong really .....although I've been using the pushbike more
Cheaper than a electric push bike

We have to get a bike soon!!!!!! Keep saying we will but hubby needs to do his CBT in order to take 2 of us and he just won't get round to it! Just a question - do you insure it separately?

If you need a CBT, you won't be able to carry a pillion (as far as I am aware).
I can carry a pillion on my 50cc moped because I have a pre-1997 car licence which endows me with a FULL licence for a moped (provisional for others, IIRC). If I wanted to upgrade to, say, a 110cc bike, AND CARRY A PILLION I'd need to get a CBT, then pass the licence appropriate for the bike. With just a CBT, it's effectively a provisional, so no pillion.
As it happens, I have just renewed my insurance with a new supplier - last year's £81 was followed this year by £102 renewal, so I went online and paid £84. What's annoying is that it's through Post Office, which seems to be acting as a broker because the insurance is via Devitts - who are themselves brokers - so I'm dealing with TWO middle-men (n)

As far as I know you will only be able to ride a 50cc. We did the same (wife needed CBT, I didn't). 50cc will be small and struggle on hills. It is great for the freedom but if your on a 50 you will be limited to range you can do and you'll have to know the terrain.

Ah see poster above beat me to it.

With CBT and car lincense you can carry pillion on post '97 license.

I'm keeping that. It'll be handy even if I never use it.
Having recently passed my bike test in order to take SWMBO on the back, I'm also thinking "scooter or bike"
The Honda PCX125 is a tempting bit of kit but there are a couple of alternatives that aren't much heavier and have a lot more umph.
The KTM Duke 390 fits the bill quite nicely at about 155Kg at the kerb.
But Honda is bringing out a new CB300R which weighs a mere 143Kg all in. Will be having a look at one before finally deciding.

That Honda does look good at first but looking at the power output, PRICE and dull paint job would put me off a lot.

Power between the 2 is some what irrelevant as SHMBO won't want to me to be tearing up the tarmac.
I wish KTM did some toned down colours as the bright orange puts me off a lot.
The Honda is +£500 on the Duke, but that's to be expected on a new model. I'd agree that overall the KTM is a better buy.

I’m curious about the KTM 790 Duke, at 169kg its a decent weight for the added power.

For those of you with 50cc bikes, what do you have? Do you manage 2 up for local journeys ?
If your both fairly light and you don't go up hills you'll manage 15 -20 mph
Just remember when pulling out a junction your very vulnerable.

The first time I rode an automatic 50cc scooter was in 1996 on the Greek island of Kos. The lad I hired it off was adamant it would be great for going round the island, and "capable of 100k" , I thought yeah right (n):D2. It was a golden coloured semi step through Gelera can't remember the model but he was right. It was great for the week we hired it for, went like buggery. A totally unrestricted 2 stroke might be the answer.

We wouldn't be without our scooter - BUT...
I have never found a satisfactory way to bring back a couple of baguettes from the boulanger. I have even tried sticking them down my jumper, and we once bought a baguette bag which looked something like a quiver, but that didn't last long.
Any ideas?
Have you thought of using plastic down pipe. Fixed to your bike ?.
Just a thought.

Yamaha do a 900cc three wheeler based on the 115bhp MT-09
Can't be allowed on a car licence... isn't it now based on the fact the vehicle leans rather than how many wheels? Remember the Sidewinder?

Yamaha tricity 125cc weighs 150kg very safe easy to ride, (three wheels) is a suggestion. Took it with us around France last year. Easy takes two, but you may need a ful licence or cbt. (Have had full mc licence for 50+ years) Ride it up ramp into back of my MH. new version is heavier and has more cc.
