The worktop over our fridge was getting a bit scratched, as it’s just inside the hab door it tends to get everything dumped on it. Thought long about what to do about it and came up with this-Fablon!

Great idea. Used to use Fablon a lot, on maps, and books etc. Not seen it for years.

Yes probably will scratch but I can replace when needed!

I was bothered by a scratch we had quickly collected on our fridge door,
until I discovered that it had a protective plastic film all over it.
Once removed it was better than new!

Our worktop (15 years old) seems to withstand anything and ours also extends along to next to hab door so same treatment as yours. Our table-top is also the same material - quite a hard plastic of some sort.

Anyone wanting to do this make sure you get the genuine stuff as there are lots and lots of imitations out there, cheaper yes, but cr@p.

I did a similar thing on the glass covers over the hob and sink - meant I didn't have to worry about scratching them and it just peeled off when I wanted to change it.

Get a piece of glass cut to just a fraction undersize, rub sandpaper or oilstone on edges to eliminate sharp edges.
