We’re a couple of newbies 😊
Hi all
Couple of Newbies just starting on our adventures
we have a perfectly good car SatNav - should we upgrade to a Motorhome version ??
Thinking a combination of maps and car SatNav should do it but word on the wire is get the Motorhome version
appreciate any thoughts
p.s. there are no wrong answers :giggle:

depends how big you MH is really, you should be ok on the Nuevo, just take a good loook round corners before turning ;) and read height signs for low (really low) bridges

We have only ever had a standard TomTom satnav but have learned to almost never turn down a lane without a white line. Just carry on and it will soon find an alternative. Plus there are very few low bridges that will stop a motorhome and always very obvious.
There's also loads of motorhome POI available for TomTom

we bought a Garmin sat nav for MH as our cars have integrated Sat Navs. Garmin is ok you can enter dimensions of van and it should save you from tight spots.
To be honest I would try your car one see how you get on.
What size MH?

Use what you already have, and then decide if you need to change it……

(I’d also get a Trucker’s Atlas too, being a ‘belt ‘n braces’ type of chap, useful to double-check the sat nav route for ‘nasty surprises’…..!)

Before you go spending money on new tech use what you have to start with and I'm sure if you try looking out the windscreen aswel you will be fairly safe I drove a car transporter using a car sat nav for years and didn't hit that many bridges

Does your current satnav get map updates?
My 2005 nuvi is doing great for us - Garmin lifetime map updates help.

All the above advice is good. Motorhome specific satnav will allow you to enter vehicle dimensions and will route accordingly but with a Nuevo you shouldnt need or want to avoid the back roads. It may also give you campsite info but you can get that on POI downloads for standard satnavs. if you want a decent site finder for UK then Ive found WikiCamps UK app for your phone really good. And, being a bluff old traditionalist :giggle:, a paper road atlas is always good too. enjoy your trips (y)
