SatNav GPS that also uses Ord. Survey maps ?

Does anyone know of any GPS/SatNav that can also be used outdoors (cycling )which uses O.S 1:50000 maps as well as being used in the Van as a normal street level voice instruction SatNav ? Possible Xmas pressie for me AND the wife .

Hi there . Road Angel will take the 1.25000 memory maps. Maps can be expensive. If you decide to buy one of these PM me before buying any maps

What format do the maps have to be in for the Road Angel? I have all the UK & France for Memory Map in QCT file format.

BTW I use TomTom for navigation in the van but use my Dell Axim PDA with Pocket Memory Map & my bluetooth GPS for when we are out hiking.

Yep mine are in QCT I know once they are installed in th pooter you can load waypoints into the Garmin (even the basic model) but I am assured you can load the whole maps into the right model of Road Angel. Apparently they are owned or in partnership with Memory Map. If you google Memory Map the info is there.

Be aware though the files are massive I have approx 23 gigabytes in my Memory Map folder

23 gb just looked on my hard disk & my MM folder is only 19 gb (however I did take all my French maps off & they filled 10 DVD's :thumb

Are yours the 50000 or 25000? I have all the UK including shipping and air.

50k, 25k, & the aerial photo's, haven't bothered with the shipping or the air ones as I didn't think I would need them.

Road Angel looks good , it comes with Uk street mapping and a 1:50000 National Parks SD card. The down side is cost of extra maps . Europe mapping is £137 and whole of UK OS 50000 is a similar price, extra.
I`ll have to check the purse strings !
