I'm a newbie
I only joined a month ago and posted querie about carrying a motor scooter on the back of my m/home. I got so much good advice , stopped me from making some very expensive mistakes, what a great site this.

So, i am asking for some more help on which sat. Tv receiver i should buy.
I have a Selfsat - H21D antenna with dual linear polarisation.......whatever that means! It was on the MH when I bought it.

We plan to travel to S Spain and Morocco ( after getting more advice from Funsters ) and want to get as many UK Channels as poss on the TV.

Should I go for Freesat or Free to Air?
What receivers can anyone recommend, make and with what features should I look for?

All comments gratefully received, Geoff

Am afraid you wont get much at all south of Barcelona on any dish smaller than 2 metres regardless of what receiver you have. You will get some channels, but its very hit and miss especially with Sky and Astra.

Hi,
I'm in N lincs.
I have found the guy who runs Snellyvision (01472 258 620)
very helpful, as have several others on here.
He is in Rothwell, near Caistor, N.Lincs.
He does a good job of fitting sat kit / solar kit etc., and may be a good guy to ask for advice.
He wont try to sell you something you dont need.
No connection with this firm, just a satisfied customer.
Welcome, by the way.

Once you get down to the South of Spain you would need a huge dish to get 28E and all the UK Channels.

A cheap 12V free to Air box, something similar to this;

will also pick up anything going that's free from subscription.

On 28E you will get the FTA, Uk channels such BBC 1,2,3 etc, ITV and so on. They will not appear however in the proper order as on a Sky Box, but you can soon put them in order on a "favourites" list

On 13E and 19E you can still get BBC News, Sky News and CNN in English, there are a few other English language channels but none of the mainstream UK ones.:thumb:
