We are looking to purchase a fixed Satellite system for our Autotrail Miami, we will be touring mainly Europe and the UK and would like good coverage in these areas...
Any advice on the system and costs we would require would be greatly appreciated...

hi welcome, there are many threads and many people here who are well versed in the subject.

the current thinking is that if you ae touring Europe and want BBC / ITV you will need at least an 85 cm dish ( that s prob the biggest fixed system ) but that is unlikely to be big enough in parts of southern Spain and across Italy to mention but a few.

If u have a system in your house - take it with you with a tripod
Otherwise - don't bother - you won't need it in the sun! :thumb:

I think the biggest is 85cm fitted for mobil use, then you will be OK in France but further south you need a bigger dish, on the Costa Blanca we are lucky and a 1 meter dish is on its limits, but further north and south you need a really big dish.
As we winter here, we just got a new dish......................... :winky: But not the sort of thing you want to carry about, but as the caravan is staying here its not a problem. :thumb: Bob.

Hi

Over the years, I have had a dome, an Oyster and a Kathrein. If I was buying tomorrow, it would be the Kathrein - this is however based on past reception which is probably a lot different to present reception!

We are touring for a few weeks starting next week, so will update the blog with reception coverage etc.

Never leave a campsite with your clothes line tied to a lamp post.
We had two antenna but they ran away together and got hitched. The wedding wasn't much but the reception was brilliant.....................
