I'm a newbie
I'm thinking on buying a sat nav but I'm wondering if the cab overhang will upset its reception, what do you think?

doubt it. on the one you are looking at, does it have a separate 'receiver' or is it inbuilt to the sat nav unit. if it has a separate receiver, you can place it anywhere on the dash

My TomTom works fine, even on the passenger seat and my m/h has an overcab bed overhang.

Doubt that it would be any problem at all. GPS devices seem to be able to grab signals even inside these days. Have you tried using a smart phone? - May be a cheaper option.

I got an Aldi special tablet and run the IGo app on it. There are a lot of apps that you can try for free and once you find one you like then get the full version :)

Our old van had an overhang, we did notice more GPS problems when heading north than heading south. We put that down to the GPS satellites being in the southern sky.

To answer my own question I tried a friends old sat nav (made in China, cost thirty quid) Worked a treat, it even had European GPS co-ordinance. No idea how to get the thing updated but probably take it as a back up
