never heard of that. What model of Sargent system do you have?

the only time I know of it changing battery supply by itself is when one battery hits a lower voltage threshold...i.e.

The sargent power control systems have smart charging that can be selected on many of its units, some switch the charging automatically (when smart is selected) if the starter battery drops to 12.4 volts (EC450/460/500 etc) and I think with the EC651 PSU the smart charging (if selected) alternates between the batteries as they need it to keep them both fully charged.
This system is different to the power shut off that is to avoid possible battery damage caused by low voltage.

To answer Hoovie. It’s a EC500 with a EC 480 controller. According to blurb it’s a smart charger. If capable I will attach picture of their description

The smart charging information for these is also in the resources section of this site (at top of page to the right of subscriptions) which may help.
