I asked this revered group about beaches in Italy as that's where we intended to go in September. Not liking the umbrella sand beaches that I found in researching the Italian coast and wanting to do some snorkelling whist the sea was still warm, we decided in the end to do Sardinia instead.
Here are the beaches and adjacent campsites, along with some inland agritourism we found, in case others want to do the same one day.
1. Camping Bala Saraceno, nr Palau-

Agri Camping Serrano Montemuras - Mari Ermi
The crystal beaches of Mari Ermi are lovely. quite a lot of brown weed when we were there. Good snorkelling amongst the rocky bits.

Love Sardinia and know that area well, never visited in a MH tho’. How do you find the roads and local drivers? On my visits it seemed there were plenty of wild camping options, is that still the case?

Campeggio Nuele nr Dorgali.
Another inland agritourismo. Really pretty, great food (wood roasted pig). views over the lake from the terraces for a sunset and a drink of chilled wine.
All the Agritourismos were slightly difficult to get to ( you have to be prepared to navigate potholes, narrow and steep stone lanes, trees and bushes!) but manageable in our 7.5 metre and all were worth it.

wild camping sort of ok apparently in some areas form what I could see especially for the smaller camper vans , which we spotted on some beaches from the main road they were parked up at the end of very narrow gravelly paths! we noticed that police were about in other places checking (even came around one of the campsites one evening) although we stayed mostly on the approved sostas and smaller campsites.

Agritourismo - about 40 Euro for food each ( per person) which included the nights stay , usually a basic shower and loo available.
Or 17- 30 euros for the night.
campsites , more expensive = anywhere from 30- 50 Euros
sostas = 15- 20 euros.
This was in September which was still busy on the Island.

main roads on the island are fine, its not a large Island. smaller roads fine. But most small campsites, sosta and agritorismos are down narrow steep tracks ! we did them ok and it depends if you want that wonderful exscape into wildness or deserted nearly beaches.

Camping Iscrixedda nr Lotzorai
pitches amongst the pines, not many large ones with sea view. But we were placed in a straightforward pitch with sea view and thought we would not get anyone in front of us as the pines were so close together and ground very uneven even tents would struggle.
swish bang!!
Two German camper vans scrapped past the tree trunks and our van and set up in 'our view' !
Why do Germans have such loud voices? and the small kids and had no choice but cycle over our mat under the awning and the adults walked right next to our chairs and tables as the trees were so close!! all the fun of camping in crowed sites!
The beach was ok , but no rocks to snorkel around.

Camping Tesonis Beach, nr Foxi Manna.
After the last larger and crowded campsite ( we prefer the smaller ones and always find they if they don't have a good review on the app sites, usually because they don't have all the facilities or are bit neglected, these sites turn out to be just right for us and empty) we opted for a not very well rated site which looked as though it had a good snorkelling beach. We stayed 3 days in a nearly empty site in amongst some mastic bushes with your own large area, with views to the mountains (great fun spotting the wild goats and griffon vultures) The private stony beach was also empty, and it was good snorkelling with clear, warm water and loads of fish. Bit windy, the island can get windy at times. only 17 euros a night as almost closed for the season.

Camping S'Ena Arrubia.
Another large campsite amongst the pines (not our favourite) with a not very good (steep and rough) beach. but it is next to the lagoon bird reserve with flamingos. Lots of walks and good bike rides around the reserve. the sand dunes around the site and beach are also a reserve (lots of brown sand lizards)

the best for last.... Torre Argentina Tentizzos sosta. we found this on P4N and wish we had done more of these types of sostas. Like most of our stops this is by a beach, literary on the beach! the best snorkelling and views.
It is a private sosta 15 Euros a night, the guy comes round in the evening, takes your number plate and money, issues a slightly suspicious receipt from a machine and that's it, no facilities not even rubbish when we were there, Perfic.
Sunsets, swimming and views were wonderful that's what you are paying for.
It did fill up the next day, but we had a good 3 days there, especially when the wind died down.
Thats it folk's - a pictorial of our September trip to Sardinia. I hope it helps you to try this lovey, if basic, island for yourselves.
We WILL be doing Italy mainland next, can't wait.
