Morning all :) . We are currently on camping Isuledda not far from Olbia for a few days, after arriving on sardinia the day before yesterday. Before we left UK, I made a list of recommended places on sardinia to stay after researching this forum and blogs. Unfortunately it got left behind.....

we are travelling with another couple and are in 7metre vans so can't do roads too narrow or
rough.

All suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Rose and Peter

Ps should have said.... We have a month and like a mix of wild, sostas and campsites. Thanks

Hi Rose

Buggeru ( seriously)for the view

Cala Gonone for the drive down and really chic when you get there

Putzu idu, no view but right next to a lovely beach. There is a sosta and a campsite, the campsite was a bit too 'organised' for us

Jon

Thanks Jon, looking forward to buggeru :)) and thanks Parrotface I will look at the blog with interest.
This campsite is ideal for r and r and in very beautiful surroundings. Looking forward to exploring this lovely island..

Other suggestions most welcome

I made a mistake in yesterdays post,

My reference to putzu Idu should have been Vignola, I think Putzu Idu was more a wild camping spot, sorry Rose but it is 7 years ago now.

I remember quite a few nice spots up the west side one in particular was a rocky plateau at sea level with 270 degree views but quite expensive and a really rough lane to get down there but struggling to find the name.

Another nice one in the South was the point de nora, basically beach parking with a roman village?? next to it.

Crap weather here!!

Jon

Thanks Jon, much appreciated. We will head to vignola next I think. Weather is a bit overcast this morning, but the wind has dropped. It's very pleasant. The campsite is almost empty :)

Hi @Roseandpeter . Hope you have a lovely trip. We're thinking about Sardinia for September, so I'll be following this thread and looking for tips.
Out of interest, which route and ferry did you take?

Hi there,
We took the Livorno to olbia mobylines option. Chose a day sailing and booked it the day before by going to the port. Wouldn't do that again though, although it was useful insomuch as it showed us where to go the next morning. We found the signs confusing for the port. When you come off the motorway, follow Livorno centro then head for statzione marittimi. But I think grimaldi maybe slightly different but still in the same vicinity. Good but long crossing as we couldn't get out on deck due to the wind.

It's a very beautiful island from the small bit we've seen so far. :)

Thanks for that. There's a chilly wind blowing in Shropshire, today .

We used Moby and Sardinia ferries, Ive heard from a few people that the Grimaldi boats are not particularly good. Much cheaper to go from Italy than France last time we checked @bellabee

Hi We had a great time in North Sardinia 2 years ago late September. Mainly wild camping at Porto Pollo which is simply stunning and so unspoilt. We used an overnight ferry from Barcelona to Port Torres with Grimaldi Lines, bit of an old vessel ,but not too many frills needed overnight. Highlight of the trip was a day trip around archipelago and snorkelling off a private island south of Corsica. My wife could provide more info / Rudolfo s contact details.

Wish I'd got onto Motorhomefun sooner. Never mind. I'll try to find your blogs and posts on Sardinia. We cross from Benifacio to Santa Theresa on Monday. Have loved Corsica. Weve used Corsica ferries for our crossings. Had problems trying to book on line. It wouldn't accept our credit card and the bank couldnt understand why. Anyway, I phoned and used option 4 to make the bookings in English. Very helpful. Be careful though, they squash you in.Had problems getting to the MH to get off!! Nice to Bastia.
