Anyone seen the fire at Camping Play De Mazarrón night before last.
One van went up and took a whole row. But they are in some cases only inches apart.
Nobody killed. 3 taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. All released same day.

A couple of threads already about this I think, very sad for those involved.

Not just Spain but there's no way I'd stay on campsites like that even if I needed to.

Anyone noticed the Gas bottle? Centre of photo No.1 and right edge of photo No.2

Now THAT is scary.!

My in laws are on there. They were quiet a way from the fire but (As Emmit says) those gas bottles going up are a sight to behold.
In Fareham a calor distributor went up in flames a few years ago and it was like fireworks going up into the night sky. Very pretty from 1 mile away. I wouldn't like to be any closer then that.

Never been to this site so struggling to understand the pictures. It looks to me like holiday homes that have gone up not motorhomes or caravans. Or are you caged in on-site. Agree a lot of campsites in Europe have interesting spacing, especially when told you can park where you like.

I know the site and it's definitely MHs and caravans, look at the other threads about it for more photos.

I onow the fire service has advised a 6mt gap between units and 3mt between units and tow cars, but that only mitigates the spread of a fire from one unit to another. When a gas cylinder is involved, let's hope that all humans and animals are well clear.

Those campsites give me the fear .. at least on an aire you should be able to just start it up and drive away from one if it caught fire. But a lot of those sites have metal frames with canopies over the top and folk have awnings, chairs , bikes etc all jammed around them.

I always think they look like shanty towns there's no way I'd go on one

Shanty Town is an excellent description. I always remember a site in Cambrills a few years ago. Vans we’re parked so close to one another if made the aires we stopped at extremely spacious.
