Arrived home late yesterday, 16 days away to Spain/Portgual - all in all, (our first) 2500 mile return trip and the ol' van never missed a beat - guess we all like to think we chose the best van for the job; the variety of motorhomes, now noticed, never ceases to amaze.

Some memorable times… good cop/bad cop at Tavira… "you crossed the white line - very dangerous - 49 euro, no, 50 euro". A soulful night at camping Trindade Lagos :) wild camping along the Algarve coast with rapid sunset vistas, waking up and walking the dogs on miles of golden sand and clean beaches, diverted by swmbo for a site at Los Picos de Europa and awaking to (Alpine-style) cowbells and snow and the ensuing white knuckle ride on snowed-out mountain passes to make the ferry.

Was it a relaxing holiday in the traditional 'package' sense? Not a bit of it! Bloody hard work it was - departed at 16st 7ish lbs and arrived home at 15st 11lbs - suspect in no small part due to Pont-Aven's luke warm finest duck stew on the return sailing, which takes no prisoners… (chef did have a strange look in his eye as he served it up) you have been warned :)

Must plan better next time… Germany/Austria beckons in a few months, best do some research and to this end the Funsters site has been invaluable, enjoy.

That will teach you to not go into the "cheap" self service.... have langoustines to start in the A la Carte restaurant

You know, you're absolutely right, the past thirty hours have been a salutary lesson for this sometimes tight fisted curmudgeon :)
