Sorry if this has been raised before but I can’t find a thread on search.

We will be landing at Santander in early April and will be visiting friends in Benelmadena. We intend to travel down through central Spain over a period of about a week.

Bearing in mind the time of year, and camp site opening/closing timed, does anyone have suggestions for stop overs?

we would like to vary the trip with stops of one/two nights per stop. We have plenty of time in hand.

We land in Santander early afternoon and want to top up food stores as we leave Santander so the first night should not be too far away.

Thanks in advance.

The caves at santilana del Mar are worth a look. Free aire nearby. If over 60 it's free otherwise its only about €3 anyway.

Heading south

Aranjuez is definitely worth a visit to see the city & royal palace & river museum

Burgos too to visit the fabulous city & cathedral

Salamanca to visit this hugely important old university city with reputedly the most beautiful plaza major in the whole of Spain

Caceres is a great place to see the city too.

All have campsites with easy access on foot or bike or bus at Caceres

Thanks to all who have replied.

Obviously my initial post was not clear.

I am looking for recommendations for camp sites or Aires to enable us to split the journey.

Over the years we have visited, Madrid, Salamanca, Burgos (fabulous Cathedral), Seville, Granada etc but have usually travelled via the Med coast road and then meandered. This time we want to travel straight down through central Spain, from Santander and are looking for personal recommendations for overnight stops.
