Off to Spain via Santander next month. I guess the first job after landing will be stocking up with food. Any suggestions for motorhome friendly supermarkets near the ferry terminal?

Thanks in advance.

On my current Spanish trip, I’ve relied on Google maps (satellite view, backed up with street view) to identify if there are any supermarkets and whether or not they’re suitable for our vehicle.

Of all the supermarkets available, our preference has been for the Mercadona chain. Google maps is content to accept Mercadona as a search term and will identify only those stores. Similarly with the like of Lidl, Aldi, etc.

Arrived in Santander in November and set the Sat Nav to
Lidl
Calle San Martin del Pino.
Santander.

It's a wide approach and a big car park.

Friends landed in Santander a couple of weeks ago only had what milk butter and cheese they had left at home, no one checked or even asked. The stuff in my fridge at home will be going with us, will be dumped at the ferry trminal if necessary. nothing at all was checked when they landed in santander, their passports were stamped though.
Know that is probably not helpful to OP apologies.

Good

Good to know. Same on Eurotunnel last Saturday. Nobody on French customs apart from kiosk man who just stamped our passports. They're simply not interested nor have the resources to check inside motorhomes.

Out of 8 years travelling within the EU in a large van I have come to find that almost all LIDL supermarkets are accessible, so head for those whilst on the move.

Only had slight problems with a very high entrance hump at the one outside Pinada del Mar which grounded our exhaust and another with a very busy small car park in Italy near the Slovenian border, but we still managed to get in both. All locations on the App too which makes it easy.

And 1 other fir Lidl

Have you tried the maps.me app. It's totally free and I've used it for years. You can download all the maps for the country and areas you want to visit before you travel so do not need a data connection. It has a comprehensive database (downloaded with the maps) for groceries, sights, wifi, gas, parking and ATM to name but a few. Here is the link:- https://maps.me/

If you are heading south or west from Santander you will go past Torrelavega. It's not far from Santander and on the east side of the town are a group of supermarkets all very close together, Mercadona, Aldi and Carrefour. If you zoom in on Google Maps you will see them. Access from the road is easy, plenty of parking. The Carrefour is more of a challenge as it had height limit barriers when we last visited but there is a back way in. :)

We stopped at the Aldi just off the A67 at Torrelavega as we were heading that way.

The 'other' Lidl @ Santander isn't that good (I see they are saying there are three now???)
I had a look on Google maps and the entrance would have been very difficult if someone had parked near the entrance.
Add to that the propensity, even in the North of Spain to put in those open sided covers for parked cars. A nightmare for driving around with a van.
