I have been caravanning for 32 years but in 2014 I have"gone over to the dark side"
The windscreen in my last MoHo had a shaded area top centre of screen to fit SANEF tag - my new MoHo (2016 Hymer Mercedes MLI 580) does not have a shaded area on the windscreen - SANEF tell me that as long as the windscreen is not an "athermic" heat reflective screen then all should be fine!

OK BUT how do I tell if the windscreen is "athermic" - anyone know??

I've tried asking it but (like most windscreens I suppose) it refuses to answer!! ;)

Our Carthago A class didn't have a shaded area either.
I don't think you'll have any issues with the tag and if you do, you can always try holding it out the side window.

Just position it towards the centre / top of the windscreen

Since 2011 therefore I'm not a newbie anymore
We tried centre position and were getting to 1ft from the barrier before it opened, so tried it on the passenger side, still 1ft before it worked. So back to the centre position

Now go through the 30km signed lorry lane and the barrier opens before we get there!

Does that mean that you get charged as a lorry or still as a campingcar?

The charging is based on the height of your motirhome.
Ours is under 3mtrs high so get charged as class 2.

Over 3mtrs class 3 the lorry rate

There is a bit of a knack to using the 30km lane but once you get used to them it's a doddle(y)(y)
