Salt doesn't deteriorate though it does absorb water from the atmosphere
We have got some salt that is more than 20 years old though not much left now as I use it a lot

There was a similar faux-pas with bottled water which "has been filtering through the mountains for thousands of years".. Best before next week!
Seriously, I wonder whether the containers could leach nasties into the product. I know that the major culprits (things like plasticisers) aren't present in food-grade plastics, but who knows what else is.

In any case, buying anything in amounts that you need to keep for any length of time just turns you into an extension of the supplier's warehouse and bank account!
