Good Evening,
Looking to stay overnight at Salamanca tomorrow night, could anyone give me the heads up on which is the best suited site? We are 9m Long and 3.5 high and wouldn't mind a Beer and a Meal if anything is available.

Camping Grigio or Camping Rutadelaplata ?

Many Thanks
Brian.

We've stayed at camping Regio. It's a time warp hotel & site that does a special offer meal for campers €8.5/€10.00 from memory - slightly bizarre one plate combinations but tasty and plenty on it.

The campsite is mostly grass pitches and a bit uneven but even of not suitable for your unit some people park along the roads which would be okay and level. It's in the ACSI book. There's also a bus in to Salamanca regularly during the day.

If you don't want to go in to Salamanca we also like Camping Don Quixote which is along the river and has a nice little restaurant. Although you'd have to check it's open this time of year.

There is a free parking spot almost in the centre of Salamance at coordinates 40.978400000 -5.662800000
Its adjacent to Lidl and Mercadona and just across the river from the cathedral. It is 10 minutes walk into the city centre where there are literally dozens of restaurants and bars. Its worth spending a day exploring Salamanca.
Ther are no facilities but there are usually 6 -10 vams parked up overnight. We stop ther both on the way down and the way back from S Spain every year.
Our van is also 9m and find that the entrance to the car park off the roundabout is a bit too tight, so we drive along the road with the river on our right for about half a mile do a U turn and then enter the car park via the exit. I have seen other MH drivers do the same.
It is very safe, Police pass by regularly, it is well lit at night and lathoigh there is a bit of traffic noise it is quiet after 10pm.
Hope that helps

Hi Mike

Is that one still open, earlier this year we stopped on the little car park just over the main bridge, somebody said the one by Lidl was closed.

we have stayed don Quixote , you can get a bus from just near the campsite entrance into the center of Salamanca , if you are coming from the north we turn off well before Salamanca just near the filling station on the motorway , it takes you across country to the campsite instead of going into Salamanca itself ,same coming out if heading north or south ,

I havent used it since April Martin. It was fine then.
It may be that in warmer months it gets busy and the locals complain they cant park their cars? Ive never seen more than a dozen vans parked there before but we usually stop there in January and March/April and never had a problem before.
