If you are worried about putting your PIN number into credit card machines. Use a cocktail stick then bin it, or a piece of rolled up paper then bin it

Initially, when I read the OP I thought it was a security issue. Then the penny dropped.

Good advice! (y)

One of a couple living close to us is in bed, feeling ill, with ''flu'. The other is still going out and about. My tip is to behave towards everyone as if you know they have coronavirus .... just in case they do!

While I see your concern?. And they are behaving IMV irresponsibly, without regard to the wider issue. "Going out and about" could be a necessity dependant on circumstances.

I am "Supposed" to be self isolating (76 and my wife has medical issues). However the time WILL come when (other than doggy walking) I will be forced to go to a Supermarket. (or face starvation?). Those around us are self isolating too (Age Mostly). I have been atempting to get a grocery delivery "slot" from a Major Supermarket with whom I have had an account for many years. The others have stopped accepting new registrations. There are currently NO SLOTS before the 17th of April and they are not releasing any of later date as yet. I am checking each morning. We have no family within 250 miles and one in the USA. None of whom are allowed to travel anyway. So we are down to self reliance. So "out and about" covers not just people behaving badly.

The big difference is that you are self isolating to protect yourselves, the other couple referred to should be self isolating as one party has symptoms, and so should not be leaving the house to protect everyone else, so they should not be leaving the house except under extreme circumstances, they are being totally irresponsible.

As Per my First paragraph?.

Is there not a local Facebook help page or ring age concern and ask. There are quite a few setting up to deliver to people self isolating. There may also be local funsters who would deliver are you anywhere near Whitby?

We are fortunate here because the local farm shop will deliver to our village.
There is also a local group of folk who will help with getting food to people if we ring them.

Maybe such a group exists where you are?

Local websites? as a source of info?

Good luck.

Thank You. We have disagreed on here over other issues in the past, but I am indeed grateful for your concern. NO, I do not "do" nor never will be part of the Face-ache "society". Age concern, have far more to worry about than me. There are severely disabled and men and women of more advanced age and infirmity, and some younger with issues. I personally am still fit enough to deal with our own issues. I was merely pointing out that not everyone is on the move for purely selfish reasons.

We are taking it day to day, my concern is not for the immediate but looking 3 weeks or a month ahead. We had the (misfortune) to lose (fail) the Chest freezer about a year ago but made the decision to replace it, In hindsight that was fortunate as we have it 80% full I estimate. (y) We can get Staples from the local store Milk Eggs Bread etc; currently, their stock is however limited by the small building they occupy. So long as I pick a Quiet" time I get away with it, usually combined with dog walking, we also still have a small Butcher here. When/If I do have to make the effort, I will make the necessary "risk assessment" and act acordingly.

We live in a largely elderly community. I think another issue may be that alot of people simply dont do internet etc?
We were out walking (exercise) the other day and came across an elderly resident who has a husband who is in poor health with conditions he had before all this. They also have a disabled daughter.

We are having to go and get some supplies on Monday so we asked if they wanted us to do some shopping for them.

It was only when I suggested that they email me or text me the list and she told us they didnt have internet or didn't know how to text, that it brought it home that there are people out there, within the community, who must still feel so utterly alone and helpless feeling that they cannot leave their homes for anything.

Good job Carol had decided that her and her daughter needed some fresh air. We must have been the only people they saw and we adhered to social distancing so no harm done I reckon.

Another safety tip is do not eat jam tarts in the woods as you will be stung buy the bees ?
