Parking by the castle. --- CF83 1AL
Thanks Stealaway
We sort of knew about this suggestion but not sure if a height barrier in place, can't quite tell using Google Earth. But will certainly be taking a look as we will be in Caerphilly a couple of hours before we want to park up and if no height barrier or signs prohibiting motorhomes it will be where we will park, unless someone can suggest another place.

There is a pub at the did of the main street into town that allows overnight stop, the Pontiprindy Inn, I think its called ,a large flat hardstanding car park behind the pub. No facilities but there is a water tap outside .

This is a Brit stop about 20 minutes away

Caerleon Amphitheatre

How close do you want to be
Thanks Nanniemate
All suggestions gratefully received. We are dining out at a relatively new restuarant right in front of the Castle but never parked up on 'high street ' anywhere yet as we're new to motorhoming, previously owned a caravan, still apprehensive about where we park , be it to go shopping or stopping overnight unless at proper camp site. This will be a first for us!

I know Caerphilly well and of the suggestions you already have, the Pontygwindys car park would be the easiest option for a quiet night, it's on the edge of town about a mile walk from the resteraunt I think your going to, you could park on Crescent Rd at the back of the Castle if you can find a space without restrictions for one night, the car park for the railway station (which slopes) may be another option.

Theres not many wide streets and a rough estate to avoid so peace of mind would be good for your first night on the road, we tend to not make it obvious we are in the van as well, not putting blinds up on the windscreen, arrive late, leave early and cook breakfast elsewhere etc and you can get away without upsetting people and be a bit bolder in where you choose to park.
