S8 not charging (1 Viewer)

Any ideas why my Galaxy S8 is not charging off mains type-c charger. It will only charge if I use a normal USB to type-c meaning it takes a bit longer and I can't charge it in the house easily.

The same charger works when plugged in to my pixelbook which needs a high charge rate so it's definitely working.

I can't figure it out.

Have you tried hard resetting the phone ? Sounds like the charger is ok as you’ve tested it .

S8 phones are getting old now. I'm ordering the A41 when we get home. My S8 gets very hot and the battery drops like an RV diesel gauge

The USB C socket and cable have multiple pins, a set for data and 2 I believe for power. The S8 if I remember is also able to be fast charged at variable voltages using a QC3 type charger

It is possible one pin in the phone's socket is damaged

Yeah tried resetting it but still not working.

It's been a great phone for me with great camera and still holds a charge.... When I can get it charged that is don't really want to be splashing out on a new phone although I noticed I could get a free pixel phone on my upgrade options. Maybe worth thinking about

You could be right TheBig1 i was having problems getting the old original charger to stay in the phone a while back, that's why I bought the new one so does point to a damaged pin in the phone itself. Is that fixable or not worth it?

I have an old S8 with a cracked screen I use sometimes. It has only ever been charged wirelessly and its fine.

A new socket is not a simple 5 minute fix. As above, buy a charge pad which plugs onto any usb charger and charge it wirelessly

Never knew the S8 had that feature.

yeah, that got me thinking, so asked the wife..... yes my old s8 has wireless charging. It's her phone to abuse and destroy now and why I don't buy her new phones. Apparently they can't swim (2) and crack if sat on (2) the screen shatters if dropped on the kitchen floor (1)

Just had a look at the A41, seems a decent price for what you get.

With my wife it is her glasses that get destroyed.
