Hi, We're planning on moving from the C&CC site at Cambridge (good site) tomorrow to Rutland Water for a day or two but struggling to find a site, CL or otherwise, around or within cycling distance of the reservoir. Can anyone offer any suggestions please.
The Caravan Club site at Fineshade looks interesting maybe?

    Thanks
    John and Di.

There is a camp site opposite the sailing club gate, it's just a field

Stopped there loads when sailing, ring them and ask
Or Google Rutland sailing club camping

If you can manage without electric you can park at Lyndon Top for £7 a night with a choice of 8 fields. There is a CL at the entrance to the site but don't know what it's called.

I second Lyndon Top, the CL is Caravan and Camping Club.

Third vote for Lyndon Top. Over looks the water, cycle track passes the entrance.

This sounds perfect, especially with the cycle track. But, unfortunately can't locate in the C&CC book or on their website.
We'll go find it I'm sure (half the fun!) but any location or coordinates please?

My first "shakedown" trip with my first MH, just three months ago.
As said - no ehu nor facilities, other than fresh water & elsan dumps.
But you can't beat the location or the views.

    It's a private site not a CL/CS
It's down the lane on the way to the Lyndon Osprey Visitor centre

    Enjoy.

Also there is a bus service that goes around the lake that you can hop on and off of as you wish for the day

    Lyndon Top

Also my new favorite local place,

the guy who meets and greets has to be the nicest, most helpful person I have ever met!

Really chilled place as camping should be with excellent views and access to the lake and cycling trails

    Andy

looks lovely, we were planning to go there in August but thought there wouldn't be enough to see or do, looking at your photo I shall be nagging himself to make it a priority now.

If the weather stays like this I don't think you'll be dissapointed.
Arthur says its a 10min walk across the fields to the Golf Club clubhouse - for drinks and they serve meals.
