I use a vertical axis wind charger along with my solar panels. It does not do much alone, but is a constant charge 24 hours per day as opposed to solar during daylight hours. If you are intent on wild camping, then it will enhance your solar panels output. But if you do not wild camp, then save your money towards campsite fees.

My experience says that if it is windy enough to be worthwhile, you don't want to be there.
Not sure of this particular one, but most are generally far too noisy too.

When I looked at wind turbines a few years ago the horizontal axis ones tended to be a bit noisy and could be difficult to mount securely to a vertical pole. On the other hand the Foregen 500 VAWT that Dingray has is easy to mount and virtually silent but more expensive.

I have a vertical axis one the same as Snowbirds. Never been fitted open to reasonable offers.

Every real-life review I've ever read about a vertical axis wind turbine has been disappointing. And that's putting it mildly. Shame, because they they would be very convenient if effective.

ShiftZZ - didn't you post about one on a building in Leicester that had cost a fortune & produced next to nothing? Not that that was all the turbine's fault if I remember it rightly - the planners wouldn't let them put it in the optimal position & then they were only allowed to run it for a few hours a day.
