Ideal for a solo traveller .. especially at that price !

Hi. The old Lada Niva, was something else, made from thicker gauge steel,it was a proper truck. We used to go L/rover rallying mid 70's. 'ish. One came on site and went around as if it was a motorway, there was so much travel of the back axle,at one point i thought it had "Fell off". Simmonites of Bradford, about that time advertised one as... "A Mini Range Rover at a mini Price.Be worth a look at,at ;least,if you were in the market.

Fully agree about the niva and the one in the video looks as if they havnt changed style in forty years.

Yup, third vote for the Niva, cracking motor. I had one in the late eighties early nineties, bought in Moscow in '87.

Tough as leather, strong engine, light weight monocoque body, good engine (let down by shite carbs) inter-axle diff locks - better than a Range Rover and axle articulation that had to be seen to be believed!

Folks used to rip the pi$$ out of me with Lada jokes until I took them off-roading in it, they would quickly shut up. It was excellent when the going got rough, with decent tyres and a competent driver it was a match for pretty much anything out there at the time, up to and including big luxury barges like RR, Toyota et al.

Being Russian it was designed for the Siberian wastelands so it was simple, robust, easy to mend, went on for ever and was a hoot to drive. And the heater? It would cook your hoofs!

I went overboard and pimped mine up as a large, loud FU to the nay-sayers, fancy alloys, mud plugging tyres, racing seats, bull bars, spots and a huge Saltire on the roof; GET IN!

Had it for years, thoroughly enjoyed it. Sold it to a Guy who travelled all the way from Carlisle to Edinburgh to buy it. Sold it for a decent wedge as well to buy my first motorbike!

I would buy one tomorrow if I could.
