Run to the sun….

Having backpacked all of those places I’m sure I would enjoy Morocco. However I couldn’t subject the love of my life to it, obviously I’m referring to the Moho and not Mrs Barryh 😂. As far as rubbish goes India trumps the lot.
The rubbish in India, even now was unbelievable , Delhi apparently requires commercial vehicles (even tuk tuks) to run on gas or electricity but the polution was choking, not helped by people burning rubbish on fires at the side of the road  what wasn't being burnt was being eaten by cows.

Even Goa, the air and the sea both seemed to have a brown tint. Even though the plastic is bad Morocco is not like that. One thing we are sadly seeing more is evidence of smashed wine and beer bottles and have to say that the culprits are almost certainly locals.

We are heading to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in four weeks for nearly two months with back packs and nothing booked so we will see how we feel about exploring further afield.

We plan on doing similar in the next year or two so would be very interested on how it goes.

We always travel independantly you certainly see more that way but you do see the sader side of life as well.

India we had the two extreams staying with relatives in Bangalore who were upper cast & taken the poshest restaurants to getting ourselfes lost in Old Delhi at midnight.
Fond memories but I wouldn't want to do it again, Mi would love to go back.

Sometimes to experience life you have to get out of your comfort zone…😆

It’s not a place I would rush back to but I would come back and as said before I would go to a place I’ve been to before and stay there…

Weve done several trips around that area, all independently and all been good, place we want to go next time is Northern Thailand and Laos, havent been there but got friends there now and looks wonderful. Like other places theyre all moving on so instead of travelling in pick ups they're now ac minibus.

We too are in the "not for us" bracket, as we have no wish to take our pride and joy to Morocco. It's bad enough driving her on Blighty's roads. :(

I do admire those that do though, and have followed and enjoyed several blogs/threads on the subject, with the first from several MH'ers in the early years of FACTS & FUN, some of whom are sadly no longer with us today. 😢

Power and enjoyment to those that can, and do tour Morocco. 👍

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Laos. Mostly dirt poor but wonderful people and places. Great memories of our time there and I took one of my all time favourite photos.

I'm really glad this thread is back on track. We will all be home before the Marrakesh Express gets here
We are just about on our way. We have the Bilbao ferry ( hopefully) on Tuesday and after a few sherries in Jerez we will be over .

We love motorhoming in Morocco. The vibrancy, such varied cultures living in harmony , the landscapes, the food and the generosity of the people.

It's also cheap, easy to find campsites( yes we are happy to pay!!!) and in three visits we have Never felt threatened, awkward or uncomfortable.

We just hope it stays that way.

Although it is getting on for twenty years since I was there, the Greek islands do pretty well for rubbish. I suspect it is mainly the package holiday brigade who can't be arsed to bring the empties back from the beach.
In the case of the broken glass it is almost certainly illicit drinkers covering their tracks.

STOPPED by COPs

As I left the campsite this morning I took the feeder lane from the roundabout then parked up outside the shop to get some water, walking cop comes up behind me and taps on passenger window.. winds down and he’s English was no good.. best I could understand was I was supposed to stop before coming of the feeder lane shows me a piece of paper with 400dh on it I said no.. take me to the police station, I saw he turned off his camera so I got my phone said don’t turn off I will video too.. he then waved his finger and started to get the arse, so I put the phone back on the holder and inspector came over who spoke better English and again said I didn’t stop..
I said sorry but the sign is in Arabic and I thought the feeder lane was ok so I said thank you for the warning but I’m not paying 400dh he took all my paperwork and gave them back one by one and started talking about someone in England.. other cop wanted to see my phone I said no.. inspector said go, welcome to Morocco…😆😂

Chancer …😏

Well handled Garry! Not an easy situation to deal with.

We flew to Marrakesh about 20 years ago and spent a week in Morocco and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've always fancied going there in the motorhome, but the years pass and we've never done it.
Now, I don't think we ever will.
I really can't be bothered with the post-B-x-t hassle of getting a titre test in the EU and then waiting another three weeks for the results.
I'm also a bit worried about taking our dog there, anyway. I know that plenty of people do it but I wouldn't forgive myself if he got harmed in any way.
I'm really enjoying reading about other people's travels, though.
Thanks for taking the time and trouble.

And while Garry was fighting with the local peelers I was fighting with some live Atlantic prawns wrestling them into a lovely king prawn & vegetable curry which was delicious 😋
No animals or police were injured in these events (Well apart from the prawns being boiled alive) see pics below of step by step process 😉

When we went, a good few years ago it was always the locals drinking whilst they drove and throwing the bottles out the window. They weren’t allowed to drink, so safest way to not be caught doing it is whilst driving along on your own.

We drove to Guelmim, took a few pictures on the way.. and went shopping at marjane to stock up..

Laos is definitely on the list. We might do a travelogue in the U shaped lounge, not sure its appropriate though as no motorhomes involved.
