Not necessarily I have run flats on BMW 5 series and depending where the hole is they can be repaired. I’ve had two repaired (one was a brand new tyre) without any issues.
Of coarse some tyre fitters would prefer to sell you a new tyre😂

Opinions vary but I would never trust a repair. For a couple of hundred pounds I'd always play safe.

The repair is the same whether it is a run flat or standard tyre, the big question is how far has the tyre gone on it's sidewalls with no air in as that is what does the damage.

I am pretty sure that run flats need a special rim, best option in my view is tyre-pal monitoring and hopefully catch the tyre on the way down.

Yes that’s exactly what my independent tyre specialist explained to me.👍

Our tyre guy said that he carries a plug kit and as long as you catch the run flat on the way down and plug it before "running flat" it is fine, guess what I carry, this is of course run flats on cars not motorhome although I do carry the plug kit in the van as well.

Personally I wouldn’t bother with run flats.

We had them on a mini, as soon as it needed new tyres we put standard ones on.

Improved the ride no end 👍
I agree, unfortunately they came with the car but I’d rather just carry a spare👍

I remember seeing a BMW with rather poorly run flats stranded in a motorway Aire waiting for recovery.

Thanks very much for all the feedback 🙏
Just a thing about how long has it ran on flat, I think you can only fit them on vehicles that have a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Once again cheers.

I hate run flats. When you carry no spare and shred a tyre on the motorway at night a repair kit doesn't help. Try finding a supplier who has the right tyre in stock to allow you to get where you need to be.
