I commute up and down the M6 from J11 to J2 on most weekdays. Anyone jealous? No, thought not!
Not for too much longer - I change jobs in November - I will still have the horrors of the M6 in Brum to face, but only as far as J1 of the M5, and hopefully only 3 days a week. I still have to work on the other days mind! Can I retire at 44 please?where's a sympathy button when you need it

That's good news about works bear Bodmin can't wait to get down Cornwall end of yearGenerally we are lucky with the M5, as we only use it for the short bit at the end near Exeter. Then we have a choice A30 or A38, usually the A30, especially now the roadworks nr Bodmin are basically finished.
Our open door policy has a lot to answer for .also there is a lot of foreign lorries using all our motorways from mainly eastern bloc countries .on the A34 around Berkshire and Oxfordshire it seems as if every other vehicle is an attic which seems to enjoy causing huge tailbacks by overtaking another attic which isdoing almost the same speed ..aarrggh.

Quite a few years ago coming back up m5 we hit a traffic jam but it was in the outside two lanes we sailed up the inside lane at 40 mph for 10 miles and then turned off even then the inside lane was clear?

I used it a lot back then and remember the chaos around Bromsgrove and further south when they widened it.I used to travel a lot up & down the M5 when it was basically a dual carriageway
No I mean there was nothing in front of us in the near side lane it was emptyInside lane is always quickest when motorway is very busy because trucks don't keep braking and traffic is exiting the motorway,,BUSBy.
Same today, both directions,no lorries just half wit Muppet "drivers" blocking middle and outer lanes. No I mean there was nothing in front of us in the near side lane it was empty

Our family went home to Devon from Bedford around lunchtime today. Apparently, there was a collision on the northbound with something buried under the tailgate of a truck/van, and several others joining in further back. It takes forever for a tailback to clear once it's developed. Was no fun this afternoon travelling north from 22 to 7.... three lanes bumper to bumper start stopping for no apparent reason . And the tugged in the Kia with a bloody great 4 wheel caravan doing 90+ in lane 3 should be banned ! Caravan snaking over lane two and three !!!! Idiot !
I think that is called the hard shoulderNo I mean there was nothing in front of us in the near side lane it was empty
