For years!
Basically, I left a chilly Scotland on 1 January for sunny Spain - stupidly, minus my hearing aids. My daughter posted a tracked package with my hearing aids to Spain on 3 January. The hearing aid package was last clocked at the Royal Mail international base in near Heathrow on the 7 January. Then the Royal Mail suffered a cyber attack on their international tracking software. After one month, Royal Mail confirms they have absolutely no idea where the package is - and for sure it’s not found its way to Spain. Neither my hearing aid insurance or my travel insurance want to know since my hearing aids were not in my possession when they went missing. In short, it looks like I am going to have to stump up £3,500 to replace the hearing aids. Two months in Spain is thankfully less expensive!

I thought Royal Mail parcels have insurance on them. When I use them I'm asked for the value.

They are covered by house insurance if they are lost from the house or from your person. Sadly, although they were sent ‘tracked’, they probably should have been ‘recorded delivery‘. A lesson learned I’m afraid - and I am pretty sure others will be in a similar position. Incidentally, I cannot claim through RM because I was not the sender! As I say - nice one!

Since they have admitted they have lost track of them you could sue them for negligence in Small Claims Court.

Yes, my daughter is following it up so we will wait and see. The small court route is a thought. I will have a look at this thanks.

Hopefully they'll eventually turn up when RM sort out their undelivered parcels as they haven't been pinched or disappeared.
