Hi, can anyone recommend a route from Calais to the Hymer factory at Bad Waldsee? We are considering going through Lille into Belgium, down through Luxembourg then into Germany, bypassing Stuttgart and Ulm, then south to Bad Waldsee. If anyone has any info or advice on the route, alternative routes, stop overs, it would be appreciated. We have an A class Hymer, and will be travelling in December. :thanks4:

Not long enough!
You can stop at metz. Great place to stop with campsite and aire outside the campsite.
Bad waldsee is lovely. Huge lake to walk round and fab showroom.
Also a lidl there. There's a garage opposite the showroom for fresh water and black and gray waste.
You can get lpg in the town but there are 2 pumps. One is for lpg driven vehicles not refillable systems.
Laundrette there as well.
A lovely town to visit.
If you need to, go around switzerland, lots of vehicles do.

We took virtually the same route last month, on the way to Bodensee. We stopped overnight at the Amneville leisure complex aire just north of Metz (12 euros), and in the MH parking area at Blaubeuren (5 Euros). Our Plan B for Blaubeuren was a large free parking area in Ulm that allowed MH overnighting.

That's the way I would go - get into Germany as soon as possible and avoid all French toll roads.
Any where in Germany below Cologne is brilliant and the best is Bavaria and the Tyrol

Lindau and Meersburg are a must see.

If you're going to Hymer and want somewhere a bit quieter to stay than their own, free Stellplatz, there's a lovely, private Stellplatz on a farm, about 2 miles north of Hymer. Its called Stellplatz Bertsch & Lott. It's in the orchard of a farm, has ehu an super-clean toilets, showers and washing up facilities. 12 euros per night.

Thanks everyone, loads of great advice and suggestions, especially the stellplatz recommendations. It seems like the route going into Germany asap, rather than France is the best option. We do try to avoid toll roads, too costly and would rather use more scenic roads. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
