Thinking of going to Greece in may 2019. With a dog don't want to go by ferry from Italy. Any suggestions appreciated. Many thanks Raypat100

you have posted this same message on two different threads, I suggest you delete one of them.

watch your dog there, the majority are evil b......s where animals are concerned so keep it on a lead.

The Italy Greece ferries have good facilities for dogs ... with Minoan, there are pet-friendly cabins, kennels on the pool deck, or you can sleep on deck with your dog.

Is that the one where you can stay in your motorhome with the dog ? Regards Ray

We went the first time via Montenegro, but they want €50 at the border, as they are not EU.
(nor are we soon :D)
We then went down the West side of Greece to the Peloponnese and slowly round it clockwise.
The people are the warmest you will ever meet.
Enjoy.
Mitch.
PS ANEK ferries from Ancona to Patras overnight. sleep in your van with electrickery and a key pass to the rest of the ship ( a converted cruise ship) and no-one can access the deck you are on.
Excellent. Showers and loos on you own deck with the trucks.
Our dog pooped on the deck and we threw it overboard. No drama.

No ... Minoan no longer do 'Camping on Board.' They now do a deal called 'All-Inclusive Camping,' where you get an inside cabin, a hook-up if you can find one, and 30% off meals in the restaurant. Our return trip costs about €460. I think ANEK, probably from Fusina, at Venice, still do Camping on Board from April to October.

Just a point worth considering: If we do depart the EU as planned, you may not have the present arrangements when returning to the UK with your dog.

Presently, the alternative is, I believe, a six month stint in quarantine on return - more than a little traumatic on the dog, and your wallet!!

Yes I take on board what you say its worth considering. I think I will wait until the outcome of Brexit. Thanks for the info. Regards Ray.

Whatever way you go please share your trip with us as Greece is on my bucket list when I have more time enjoy your trip.

The worst case isn't 6 months in quarantine. The EU has established procedures for dealing with dogs from Third Countries, as they call them. Hopefully we won't be classed as one but if we are a blood test before leaving the UK will be sufficient. There have been a few threads on here about it. :)

I will it all depends on Brexit

Otherwise it's a tour of Scotland.

Greece by road is not so difficult if you have the time, our preferred route is Croatia, Montenegro and Albania. The usual problem with this route is that not many insurers offer cover for the last two countries, so we have purchased third party cover at the borders and driven very carefully.
Alternatively go by Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, stay within the E U and fully insured.

I've checked the pics out very nice

Quarantine for dogs WAS a UK requirement,,nothing to do with EU so cant see how BREXIT could alter the present animal movement laws,,BUSBY.
