Evening all, we are travelling to lake Garda via Metz and Lucerne at the beginning of July. 5 days there then we need to head back to Calais in 4 days/nights. So, can anyone suggest a different route back with up to 3 stops maybe in different locations. ???
I enjoyed the Loure Valley a couple of years ago but I'm not sure if it's too far out of the way and my geography is not the best
I don't want to drive non stop really and would like the best but most relaxed route back taking in some nice places hopefully
Any advice would be appreciated thanks
Phil

40 years under canvas: Motorhome 2016 To 2020
We went from Zebrugge to here:

Campsite Les Rives du Lac/L'Epine aux Moines

rue de Fort St. Georges, RD43

10220 Géraudot

France

GPS: N 48°18'9" E 4°20'15"

Then from there to here:

Campsite Sites & Paysages La Colombière

166 chemin Neuf

74160 Neydens

France

GPS: N 46°7'11" E 6°6'19"

Then on to Desanzano Del Garda.

From Neydens ( near Geneva but in France) we entered Italy via Mont Blanc tunnel, which was expensive but cut out a lot of miles.

Both the sites mentioned are in the Acsi book.

So this route reversed (but ending at Calais) might work for you.

I am heading to Garda in early June and plan to go through Belgium staying in tournai then Strasbourg and touring the Alsace wine region another good option is the Rhine or mosel rivers or via the black Forrest

Alternatively you could try Switzerland. Either way I would come back through the st gottard tunnel which offers a cheap option

All depends what floats yer boat!

Enjoy

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
This one is recommended. Make sure to keep away from the Mont Blanc tunnel - the toll fee is horrendous.

What's up with Mont Blanc Tunnel we have used it a few times with no problems plus Annecy is a fantastic place to stay for a few days, either heading to Lake Garda or on the way back.

We are 4.5 tonnes 3.4 meters high.

We drove up to the maned toll booth and paid. There didn't appear to be any way of measuring or weighing the van.

It appears you were lucky as you could have paid a lot more being 3.4m high!
