If you stay at Roses, make sure you visit Cadaques where Salvador Dalis house is now a museum. Beautiful area. We had the scooter and the drive from Roses to Cadaques was as good as it gets.

Oooh yes. Wonderful.
And go round the bay to L'Escala https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L'Escala. Camping L'Escala is a bit scruffy but at the beinning of the old town so you can go right to the modern bit or left to the old port and further on to the Greek ruins.
There are a lot of huge campsites at the end of the modern bit which look horrible and overcroded to us.

Two other sites in l’Estartit worth considering are La Serena (access onto a lovely beach & supermarket next door) and L’Emporda which is near a Lidl but slightly further out from town. Sept not bad but hardly anything open in October.

We stayed over Xmas & New Year at Camping Joncamar, and had a good time. Very close to all amenities. Site split in two. We were away from the reception area. 4amp leccy included in price. Good discount given due to low season. Many nationalities using it, but mainly French though. I would recommend this place for a base to explore the area. Some great hiking/cycling routes too.

We've stayed at L'Emporda and liked the campsite and the town a lot out of season. Might be a bit mad in the summer.
