Hi everyone!

We have a 2016 Roller Team T-Line 740 and wanted to ask about this key. It turns what seems like a lock and can be removed, but it does nothing more. It seems like it would lock the pull out drawers in the cupboard and turns the bar in the internal mechanism in the photo, but other than that, it does nothing. I have even removed the internal bar and slide the long bracket up and down in the cupboard but again nothing. Looked everywhere online to try find a mention of this lock and key but there seems to be nothing.

Any ideas or advice as to what it's for and does anyone know where i could find further details should it need repaired?

Cheers in anticipation!!

It does as you said locks the drawers supposed to stop them flying open in transit

Yeah that was my suspicion. Unfortunately it does nothing on mine, so the drawers did exactly as you suggested!! LOL! Any ideas where there might be a diagram of how it should work?

I know nothing off this locking system but, a guess here, when you turn the key say anticlockwise my thinking is that the bar on the other end simply pivots over and above the two uprights and unlocks.
Turning the key clockwise will then engage the bar within the uprights and lock,
Edit, or up and down, unlock/lock.

Yeah the internal bar connected to the lock is offset so it moves the long side bar up and down. However, it doesn't make any difference to the 2 shelves in the cupboard. I'm presuming something needs repaired but can't see where or how it should work. Can't find a diagram anywhere either.

Grrrrrrr!!

Sorry can't point you in the right direction but try moving the lock or key round 90 degrees each time till it catches may have been fitted the wrong way round

Is there possibly something like a retaining clip missing from the locking bar although looking at the photo there is no witness mark of evidence of such

Tried that but it makes no difference. Even tried removing the bar from the lock completely so the side bar would slide easily up and down but it made no difference. Ach well, i'll just need to keep trying.

Thank you for all your help though, much appreciated. :)

When you turn the key the bar between the 2 pins should rotate and lift the vertical bar up. This
Vertical bar should have locking pins on it to locate in each drawer.and lock in position.

I can't see anything obvious. Might pop in to the Roller Team dealer at some point and ask there. It's only about 25 miles away and i'll no doubt pass it over the next week or 2. They'll probably tell me to book it in and charge accordingly!! LOL!

Will have a look for that tonight. Thanks for the tip!

There should be a sliding bar and c shaped catches at the back of the drawers take out the drawers and have a look, if they are a struggle there are push in inserts on the drawer mechanism. Could be the bar has become detached or never fitted? If that fails no idea other than stronger catches on the drawers!

The way the edges of the laminate where the sliding bar sits looks very jagged for a factory fit item.
Maybe a previous owner made it to lock the drawers but it's failed/broken.

the locking mechanism is the same as found on filing cabinets, the bar fitted to the key mechanism should be offset to the centre of the key such that when the key is turned the offset bar moves up or down which in turn makes the sliding bar (the one with the 2 prongs on in your picture) move up and down, further down the bar will be catches that should locate onto the drawer / door locking them into position.

Most likely issues are damaged catches on door/drawer or slider bar, loose key operated mechanism preventing full movement of the actuating bar or possibly loose fittings to sliding bar is another common issue.

I’ve not seen this system before on a motorhome but is similar to systems you get to secure desk draws.
As mentioned, the key should rotate and push on one of the two pins, that in turn will slide the metal plate along. Further down the metal plate should be a catch or pin, that should slot into a receiving catch, or groove on the draw, and this will be repeated on the other draws. Take a draw out and look for receiving catch/latch and operate system to see what is happening.

No don’t take your van go in as a prospective buyer, then ask what’s that key for? It does what! How does that work then?. Wallah explaination. Costs nought👍🏼😂
