Has anyone got any ideas how to stop rodents from getting into the engine and causing damage.
We had fuel lines chewed and the top of the fuel tank on our Carthago £1000 worth of damage.

Change your screen wash. They love the blue stuff, it’s the antifreeze they are after. Try the yellow Prestone.

I had to resort to sprinkling poison over the engine if my old cricket club roller...... Nothing else worked unfortunately

We have to have marten deterrents here to keep the blighters away otherwise same result. The decent ones from Germany work well but need an alternating frequency otherwise they get too used to them. Have a search for « Mardershutz » and you’ll find a whole industry on this

I have a baited trap stuck in the engine compartment of all my vehicles. as we live in a rural area. I just have to remember to trip them at MOT time. I think a finger in one of those might force a fail from the tester.

Mice in the engine bay?
We‘ve tried Peppermint oil, it seemed to work as did Moth Balls (pity the Moths) and a dish of VERY HOT chilli sauce-Squirrels don’t like that!

What about olbas oil under the bonnet and whilst driving you'll always have a clear head

Have a look at shawn wood, mousetrap mondays on YouTube, he's tested just about every kind of mousetrap available, I think the walk the plank fall into a bucket type are probably the most successful
