Hi all
We own a 1995 Rockwood Regent 30. It is built upon a Chevrolet P30 chassis, with the 6.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine. The transmission is automatic and it has power steering and brakes. Air conditioning is a standard fit to the cab and also to the coach.
Since we bought this RV almost two years ago we have done loads of jobs to it, both to maintain and improve it.
When we first got Rocky everything was hunky dory, for about 2 weeks and then we noticed a pool of liquid under the front. This liquid turned out to be power steering fluid, which was leaking from the seal on the steering box. The seal had obviously failed before it had its last MOT some 2 months beforehand as there was handfulls of silicon sealer stuffed into the side of the box.
We had a new steering box and power booster fitted (yes that was leaking as well) and the brakes and steering have been fine ever since.
We then started to look around at all the other things that needed changing and as Rocky didn't have an awning we decided to buy and fit a new one. A new awning was sourced from Stateside Tuning and duly delivered on time, in fact they delivered it to The National Motorhome Show in Peterborough and it was fitted in the field with the help of some willing hands during the show weekend.
Stateside also sourced a new electric entrance step as the one fitted was a manual one and was difficult to use, so that got fitted soon after.
I will post more on the refurbishment of our Rockwood and also put up some pictures for anyone that may be interested, later on.
Hope this is of help to anyone considering buying a less than new American RV.
