We are at the best ACSI site I have come across - near Rocamadour. Site is Padimadour - excellent services and lovely owner, very good English. Site is excellent, clean, unfortunately we hit the last day the pool is heated! Several UK tuggers here but no funsters. Meant to stay one night, but staying another, it's just too good!!

It gets better and better. Today we went to the Gouffre de Padirac, near the site, which is the most fantastic series of underground caves & stalactite/mites I have ever seen. You go down around 800 steps, or take series of lifts down and walk to a boat which takes a trip on an underground river. Utterly mindblowing. Then this evening the campsite did utterly delicious pizzas. The ens to aperfect day - and we did our laundry too!

And we met a couple from Rosslare who know Smudger by sight - who could miss him!

Just looked on ACSI site, gets great reviews. One for the future for me! Ps If you are ever in Nerja on the Costa Del Sol, the Nerja Caves sound very similar but without the boat trip :)

Ps the caves at Sant Josep in France are also navigated on foot but mainly by boat, very good but I spent most of the time bent forward to avoid bashing my head, the ceilings are very low in places!

Apparently, according to the guide, this is the 3rd biggest cave system in Europe, the other 2 being in Slovenia. We'll be looking for those on a future trip!

We walked down and up those steps, didn't know about the lift. My hips were bad for months after, still got a problem now, one year later.
We had a trip on the boat, fantastic caves, never been in one like them.Queues from early morning to get in they are so popular.
We were at Cheddar last week, didn't bother going in, I did visit years ago, not a patch on Goufre de padirac caves. (Spelling ) Brilliant.

The viewpoint scared the **** out of me, don't like heights. Not been there for over twenty years but strangely enough we will probably be visiting next week as we wend our way south for the winter, currently at La Tranche sur Mer on the Vendee.

Can't find any reference to, or pictures of the narrow walkway/ structure that projected from the top of the cliff, is it still there or am I suffering from false memory syndrome!:D

This must be one of the most underrated, must see places on earth. Breathtakingly stunning, highly recommended. The only negative; one and a half hour queue, but well worth the wait. More pictures please.

Wow ... now that is one cave system I just HAVE to visit! Not keen on the steps as neither me nor hubby will be able to do them and survive, so will have to take the lift!

Aug 09 to date 9,000 miles!
More than one lift Minxy. And if you go not in chocca block main season, no queue. We walked from the Moho on the overflow carpark cos that's what it said, across the main carpark and straight up to the cash desk when we went.

The river apparently goes for another 10km or something like that, but only accessible by specialist divers. Our 'puntman' said in French of course as there was no English guides that day that if we'd like to return in another 10 million years we'd probably be able to get to the end of it on the punt . However he couldn't guarantee the prices that long .....
