How on earth can all that activity go on through the night without waking the occupants or even the whole site. They must have been either gassed or drunk as skunks. Have you attempted to remove windows without making any noise.

Perhaps they were just very tired. After a nghtshift I slept through, house being broken into (double glazed window smashed) neighbour informing police who caught those responsible, Repair firm securing window, about 20 phone calls and a lot of door knocking. Woke up when A police officer banged on my bedroom door and walked in. They had decided that something serious had happened to me as i didn't respond, nope just absolutely k*****red after a 12 hour shift and no break. No drink, no Gas, just mega tired.

I take it that was in a house, we are talking about one room on wheels no longer than 26ft.

Nellie looks so sweet but if the prospective thieves see a sign they may think she is a vicious pit bull(y)

Absolutely !!...Even if we didn't have a monster of a dog like nellie , or any dog for that matter I would still put a sign up.. A lowlife will always look for the easiest target,so anything that puts an eliment of doubt in their mind works for me.

I suppose the 'biggest' problem is that those of us with alarms need to turn off the internal cab sensors when we're in the van so the only protection we actually have is on the doors themselves, if they are opened. I suppose a curtain across the rear of the cab would mean that the sensors could be left 'live' so long as the curtain couldn't be accidentally moved during the night such as a dog wandering through it and setting the alarm off ... scaring you silly! :D

Its not a problem, just get some Milenco, or similar window alarms them your doors and windows are alarmed if the internal sensors are off.

If they want to be in then they will be in
We have been done twice once in Slovenia entry though cab door while we where in bed not pissed and not gased just 200 quid lighter
Once in Spain though had door looks like a big screwdriver into lock and smashed tumblers we where out at time in broad daylight alarm went of and everyone around just ignored it 250 quid lighter
As fast as you block one way of getting in they just look for another way in and the repair bill gets bigger

Very true, the trick is, as callous as it sounds, to make yours less attractive than the next one if you can. Obvious alarms, dog bowls left outside with a heavy chain lead ( and a half chewed arm ) are good visible signs that just might make a thief move to another target.

Target hardening is the way to go. If you neighbour leaves a window while they are out then they are an 'easier' target, works the same with a MH.

We're feeling a lot more secure now we've got Eddie Vanbitz Growler, (with panic alarm) fitted. No-one could possibly sustain efforts to break in with the 'devil's wail' in operation. I also feel better cos being a light sleeper I hear lots of noises, I know now if I do see anyone loitering I can just press the panic and they'll be gone without me having to send hubby out in manly mode !

What is and how does a " perimeter Alarm " work !!!
Rather like the sensors for reversing and at the front of some cars these sensors are placed at suitable locations around the Motorhome. When someone approaches to within a set distance they can be programmed to first light up, then get brighter, then play a sound or message, for example " step away from the vehicle now". I haven't got one bit I did research it and found a company who specialised. I didn't go ahead and I do not now have details but I expect an Internet search would come up with something.

I bet something like that would go down a dream (not) and an aire - especially in the middle of summer on those which are tightly parked like sardines!!! I can just imagine it, the 'neighbour' gets out for an early morning fag, or to let the dog out and all hell breaks loose!

once you have turned the alarm on by pressing the large button on the fob, immediately press the small button twice, that will turn off the internals If you don't press the small button twice and get a beep each time then you will have waited too long and the internals will stay on, just wave you hand in front of the sensor and you will find out!

Having an AutoTrail with a Sigma alarm I press the lock button on the dash and stand waving my arms in front of the sensors until it sets without arming the internals. Anything else I found unreliable and have forgotten about!
