Hi - I'm a newbie on the motorhome scene and I've just been looking to cost up a potential van. I'm having trouble finding the vehicle on the .gov site. The vehicle I'm looking at is a Ducato 15 JTD. How do I find out the road tax applicable?

Assuming it's around 2004 vintage, or thereabouts looks like it might be this if it is a Euro 4 engine:

Or more if it's a Euro 3:

If it's up to 3500 kg then I believe it is currently classed as a PLGV (private light goods vehicle) and should be £240, if over then it would be a PHGV (private heavy goods vehicle) and cost £165 - so long as the CO2 figures are NOT given on the V5C.

Just remembered that you have to be careful if you are buying something like a VW California as that WILL have the CO2 figures on the V5C so as it will fall into the luxury 'car' category you'll be liable to the extra surcharge for so many years I believe.

Nice layout but please insist on a weigh bridge certificate showing both axles as that is a long MH and it's showing a 522kg payload which sounds a lot but once you take off 100L for a full water tank, plus another 80kg for the fuel, plus gas bottles etc, it will soon diminish - as some of the stated payloads are no-where near what they are in reality you do need this info to check it is 'usable' for you.

Thank-you.
Unfortunately a long way off from a purchase at the moment. Got an old sailboat to sell first that might give me 20% of the cost, pity there was no "swap shop" type website available.
When the time is right I will certainly take on board what you have said.
