Please can anyone tell me what the VED is on a Ford Euro 6 diesel, and does the £40,000 plus extra tax apply to a new motorhome in year 2?

With a motorhome duty depends upon what its MGW is. Believe it or not the under 3.5t duty is higher than the over 3.5t. Ours is 4.5t and we pay £165. That assumes that the emmissions are not recorded on your V5.

AFAIK the tax for cars over £40,000 does not apply to motorhomes.

I am 3850 KG and £165 - The over £40K threshhold for increased tax does not apply to Motorhomes (y)

Providing they have been registered correctly. A few have been caught out where the emissions figures have been put on the registration application, then you get charged it.

That 's the stupid thing here that not only does every region have a different amount for vehicle road tax but every local council in every region!
Don't move up here it would be over twice that .:(

Ii would be nice if I have misread it but this is on the https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables website

You have to pay an extra £320 a year if you have a car or motorhome with a ‘list price’ (the published price before any discounts) of more than £40,000.

Motorhome matters have a thread on this which contradicts what I wrote above and looks to be correct

It says ‘some’ motorhomes, mine didn’t fall in to the specified categories and didn’t attract the charge and was well over £40k.

Depends on whether the makers have stated an emissions figure it SHOULD be blank however some dealers dropped a big one about that and sent the forms in with the figure on it. Somebody (on here???) bought a liner type and got stung with the taxaes for 5 years at the high rate of hundreds more than the PHGV rate and got t he registration fee on top it came to thousands over the correct fees. DVLC would not change it back but he still though it alright though.

Just bought a new 48000 pound motorhome on a 3.5 ton chassis
No extra tax.
265 road tax
Hope this puts your mind at ease.

Many of us have had motorhomes registered after the "luxury tax" was brought in but being multi stage build vehicles with no emissions figure quoted once converted (applies to coachbuilts & van conversions) on the final Certificate Of Conformity they are not liable for that expensive rate. As others have mentioned, despite this, some dealers have registered motorhomes incorrectly & unfortunately once done they haven't been able to get this changed.
There were a few manufacturers who did previously put the base vehicle emissions figure (before conversion) on the final C.O.C. but this was removed around the time the new tax was brought in & haven't heard of any since (either UK or overseas makes) still having this.

Our 'van is 3.3 tons Euro 6 engine and I just paid my Road Tax 10 minutes ago. It cost £265.00.
We bought our 'van new last year and was expecting to have to pay that luxury tax but was delighted when I got my reminder in and it wasn't for £550 :hot: I was lead to believe that it depended on the emissions figures being on the registration documents if you paid it or not

Premium (luxury) Road Tax only applies to CARS or vehicles categorised as CARS
For example VW Californias but not VW van conversions
