The road equivalent tarrif has been running for a few years now, firstly as a trial and now been extented.has anyone used been on the calmac ferries since the introduction of the RET ?

It is being rolled out to ALL routes as the winter timetable begins.

Study the ticket prices for your itinerary as they may not be suitable and single tickets between each port could be cheaper in the long run.
When does RET come into effect?
Following the phased roll out of RET pilots to parts of our network in recent years, all remaining routes will benefit from fare reductions when the Winter Timetable opens on 26 October 2015. All fares are listed in the Table below.

It's an initiative by Calmac and the Scottish government to reduce ferry prices to match what you would have paid if you travelled the same mileage by road. It's reduced ferry fares to the islands by at least 50% and makes island hopping around the Hebrides much cheaper.Road Equivalent tariff ??????? WTF is that?
