Many funsters will remember that when fun started I had no dogs. In fact it was only meeting a Newfoundland at a fun meet that got my kids begging for a dog. I ran a poll on fun as to whether I should get a dog and it was a resounding yes. Later that month we were joined by Tara the Newfoundland who very soon became a "fun" mascot with her own badge...
FFW 11 years and today aged 12 I had to take her on her final journey. She has traveled all over Europe with us protecting us and even on one occasion joining me in chasing some youths that tried to break in to our van. So it was fitting that due to her immobility that the only way I could get her to the vets was in our Motorhome.
Sat in the clinic room we began explaining that for the past 48 hours she had been unable to stand and had progressively got worse and worse despite the pain killers she was on. She had been becoming more and more uncomfortable over the past weeks short months. So it was with regret and the love of the most wonderful vet that we acted in what we believe was her best interests. I can not express the pain Nikki and I feel right now in any form of anything I can understand.
RIP Tara Bear.... and if you have a dog cat or any other animal... squeeze it tight tonight, we all know that your day like mine today will eventually come so make the most of your precious time.
