Was a Newbie but getting the hang of it now.
I was given a Ridge Monkey XL for Xmas and only used it a couple of times for toasted sandwiches. When I came to pack it away the other day one of the handles refused to detach when pressing the button. It was too late to return to Amazon and didn’t have proof of purchase so I emailed Ridge Monkey directly. They said smash the handle off,it should crack apart and break off,and they would send replacement handles in the post. Waiting for the delivery by DPD now.

Hold off with the hammer!!!
One of my handles stuck last week, when cool hold down button and wiggle handle from side to side like you would with a loose tooth.
When off clean thoroughly round handle and where handle fits into.

Just watched a YouTube and the answer is yes. It needs 2 to 3 mins in closed RM and then turn to other side.
Do this a couple of times until pasty thoroughly heated through.

I heated a couple of sausage rolls, did them separately and cooked the second at slightly too high a heat which singed it on the outside and it wasn’t very hot on the inside. They’d been bought from a sandwich shop and I was just trying to get them a bit warmer.

I have one of these which comes in a handy neoprene case for storage.

Help! I have had an interesting lunch cooking burgers with this. My problem seems to be when I turn it over fat pours out of the sides, is this normal? Did decide every time I turned it to drain into a bowl, but am I doing something wrong? Inc

Meant to say, the burgers were lovely but found it all a bit stressful.

Unfortunately I have had the same problem with sausages. I now drain any liquid off before flipping the pan.

Do you think it is the same with the more expensive Ridge Monkey?

Yeah I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that it created a water tight seal but I have the same problem as well. I just empty it before every turn but you're right, it is a bit of a faff.

Mine is the more expensive one and I had the same issue with sausages, luckily I was at home and had taken the precaution of turning above the sink, but still had fat sprayed out. Maybe I should have squeezed the handles harder.

Made me wonder about what would happen if I was making an omelette, would liquid egg dribble out on turning?

So far my best success has been the toasted sandwich in all its forms!

Sounds as though for sausages etc best to stick to frying pan. Just pleased I wasn’t inside the motorhome?

The fat issue can vary depending on the quality of the sausage / bacon etc.
Not had a problem with eggs as you best to wait till starting to solidify before turning.
Also done a toad in the hole with no probs. ??

I'll have to play around a bit more I think and see what I can come up with at home before using in the van as and when we can get out again.

Likewise! Obviously a learning curve. Only just got to grips with the remoska. As for the double skillet that’s a whole new ball game??

We have 2 gas rings on our van hob and no oven (other than the small electric portable for when on hook up), so we're learning to be creative and the Ridge Monkey seemed to fit the bill for a non-electric meal. I tried a Remoska a few years ago before we even thought about a van but I didn't get on with it.

Love the remoska but the slow cooker is better than anything else.
