Hi all,
I'm just looking for some advice re the Rewire Security Trackers if anyone has fitted them and their experiences of them....
I have done quite a bit of research and these Trackers do come quite highly recommended... I just have a couple of questions that some of you out there might be able to answer hopefully...
I was pretty well set on buying the DB2 but on the ebay listing for that model, in the description it said....

"Please note; if your vehicle is fitted with a trickle charger or a solar charging system, we recommend our more advanced model DB1-Lite"

Well as we all probably do have at least a charger I was wondering if anyone knows why they specifically mention that the DB1-Lite is best in that situation?, I can't find any info on the Rewire website that refers to this...
My 2nd query is regarding the connection to the battery, does it have to be the vehicle battery of can it be the leisure battery? I have a solar panel so I just thought that if I run it from the leisure battery then it will be continually charged up off the solar, rather than draining the vehicle battery? Again I can't really find any info on this at all anywhere.. I did wonder if it needs to be on the vehicle battery to monitor its voltage for changes, perhaps indicating that the engine was starting, so it can alert the owner but I could be wrong there...
I could be getting too technical about all this and that either of the trackers will be fine but thought that I would just ask you knowledgeable peeps out there first!

Hi
I bought the model from Rewire that now seems to be called the 'DB1 Advanced Waterproof'. The reason for chosing this model was that I was able to connect the Motorhome alarm to the tracker so I get a message on the GPSlive app and/or an SMS message if my alarm is triggered at any time. If you have any questions than call or mail them - they are extremely helpful and well informed.

Hi Mark, many thanks for the reply and I hadn't thought about incorporating the alarm into things, something for me to consider too perhaps... I will contact them as you suggest ...

Hi, just let me know if you want to know how I managed it! Not too complicated fortunately.

That's much appreciated Mark and I will get in touch if I get muddled! lol... I think I've found the answer to my question about why they suggest the DB1-Lite if you have a charger or Solar panel from a question asked about the same thing on the Amazon listing for the Tracker, so I'm gradually getting there! :)

Hi all, We don't need a tracker for insurance purposes but for peace of mind. Been looking at DB1 or 2 and couldn't really work out the difference. Seems like DB1 is the way to go if it can accept an input from the alarm. Assuming we have an output from the alarm .

I've got one of their trackers, I can't find it on their site, I think it was a 104?

The tracker hardware I've got is identical to noname Chinese trackers from eBay. Rewire put it in a nice box with good instructions and it's preconfigured to transmit to their servers.

I've got the option to run sensors, relays to do things like disable the fuel pump, etc. I'm just using it to keep an eye on the van. Added bonus is their site keeps a track of where you were in pretty good detail. So I'm making a nice map of the 6 month tour I did round Europe this year.

Tip: 1pmobile is a cheaper SIM than GiffGaff of you want to do the tracking bit, not just text messages.
