Woke up this morning to an alert on my 'phone saying that a transaction had failed on my Revolut card. Funny I thought, it's in the drawer in the office!

I'd only left £20 on the card as we only use it when abroad. Some (insert appropriate derogatory name here) had tried to spend £250 on clothing in Mansfield, someone else had tried to use the card in London at a Cafe Nero. I can only assume that the card got skimmed earlier this year when it was used in Punta Cana airport. Fortunately, Revolut's anti-fraud systems must've kicked in as the card was automatically blocked on my App.

Went online to Revolut support and got to communicate with a human in about 2 minutes, explained what had happened. Without hesitation, the original card was terminated. I was told to order a new one and they'd refund the delivery fee. New card ordered, fee refunded. All this took all of 10 minutes to sort out. That's what I call customer service!

You can actually "lock " them yourself when not using it.
I've always found them helpful once you get a live agent.

Had both my Nat West debit card and then credit card fraudulently used in the space of 2 months. Had a text alert on my mobile go off at 10pm in December last year to request a code to be entered by myself, was alseep in the van at the time in Wells next to sea. Spent the next 30 minutes on hold to the Nat West fraud dept. Very stressful thinking that the account was being drained of cash. A month later same sort of thing happened and again 30 minutes wait to speak to fraud dept. Complained and got a apology and a couple of bottles of wine the first time but didn't bother the second time. Couple of months go by and notice a payment to Now TV It transpires that although I had been sent replacement card the original scammers had set up a monthly payment. Now I would of assumed that twat West would of cancelled this as it was notified that the payment to Now TV was identified as one of the original fraudulently payments. Aparantly not! No faith in any of the banks, so sounds like you got great service.

Very happy to hear that. I am relying more and more on revolut. Love the recent upgrade which means transfers are instant now..

I love my Revolut but have to pretend to daughter who works in the Foreign Office that I don't use it anymore and remember to use my Monzo when I travel with her now!

We rely totally on Revolut home and abroad so much so that recently needed to use the pin for our UK bank card and couldn't remember it , we did sort it in the end though ...

I just looked into it and they only give you £200a month that you can take out of the ATM after that they charge you 2% a transaction. Caxton stays free if you can now find a bank that doesn't charge for withdrawing cash. I use more than £200a month cash when abroad and here in the UK.

Just applied for one. Got a virtual one for the moment as I go to Spain on Sunday and delivery is not available v until after that. I had to verify its me by photographing my driving licence and by taking a selfie . A totally new way of applying for a credit card I must admit but so very easy I how that your are right @JJ.
You seem to have been using one for years so I take your recommendation!

Very easy, go into the app and deactivate card, you can reactivate card later if you wish the same way,

I don't need anywhere like £200 per month IN CASH as most of my spending is done via the card itself.

As JJ says, I used to take cash out on a friday to last me the week. Since getting the Revolut card I have slowly changed my practice to buying everything using the card and I now only take out around £50 per month in cash..

I had to train myself on this but not such a hardship to be honest and also means I am no longer thinking, where did the money go. I simply look at the revolut app :D

I'm going to be using the app where contactless is used. Hopefully more now when inSpain than previously?

With any cards I have that get cancelled or run out then the payments on them automatocally lapse as well?

How do you do that? Is it the deactivate feature?
Yes .click on cards at bottom then on "freeze" . when you wish to use click "unfreeze"
My wife when buying on line now( about every 20 minutes:rolleyes:) uses these "one use" cards that they have. I haven't any idea how they work though. It does mean that it cannot be used again though.

Not true in all cases. There is a tokenised payment system for repeatable transactions. I can set up a repeatable transaction on a card and get a token (digital) in return. I then use that token to charge the car in future. The token never expires even when the card is cancelled or a new one issued.

Since everyone is raving about the card is anyone happy to post how to get one please . I checked out the app but if I download that how does that get me a card ? Sorry for being dim lol

If you download the app onto your smartphone you will then be taken through a series of steps to get accepted. Once you are accepted for a virtual card that you can use online you can then order a physical one to be sent to your home address. It does take you through each step quite clearly. It is just a bit more complicated now than when those of us who’ve been using it for years got one. We didn’t have to bother with the photo ID stuff.

They must have been very suspicious of you! I got accepted instantly for Revolut and Monzo so found the checks for Starling and Tandem quite a surprise. I think it's standard for all now due to money laundering and other sorts of naughty behaviour. One of them wanted a 10 second audio recording which with my techno skills took ages. Can't remember which one it was.
