Can't see behind the van so I want to fit two wired cameras one will point straight down the other look into the distance, the plan for the monitor is to mount it to the mirror fixing on the screen, 7" or 9" monitors would work I think.
loads on Amazon and other places but wonder if anyone has a recommend?

Have a look at Reversing Cameras .co.uk, not the cheapest but good quality.

I fitted one of those dual camera wired systems. Hardest part is finding the reversing switch wire to enable it to switch from distant as mirror to close as a reversing camera. As you, I fitted the display in the same position as a rear view mirror. Did not work out too well, in anything other than a dull day the display was not bright enough to really see what was behind you even at maximum brightness. Moved it down onto the RH side of the console which helped a bit. Still not as bright as I would like but useable. Rarely look at the display when reversing, prefer the wing mirrors and my OH looking out the small toilet window. Not sure I would spend the money on a camera system again. It is handy to check the bikes are secure on the rack though.

If it's for a van conversion, why not get an integrated unit that replaces the standard high level brake light above the back doors. Makes a neat job and no need to drill any new holes.

Ours is a Dometic system we had fitted at Vanbitz, but there are plenty of others available.

This appears to be the current Dometic version (which is a smaller unit than ours)

And lots of others:

Its for a Swift Autocruise so without ripping panels off not possible, I will run cables across the roof, down into the shelf above the driver and then into the monitor, I should be able to get a live feed from the courtesy light.
The Dometic is a nice unit but damned expensive.

Hi Olley. There was a guy did the shows, name escapes me. But he supplied my replacement system when th original went tits up. It's a 2 camera system in colour 6" monitor cost less than a ton if I recall.
I 'm away now but if you don't get suited I'll check when I get back and post details.

Installed a reversing camera into the brake light of my AutoCruise Forte. Have a borescope(think colonoscopy, think gastroscopy but don't think them in that order!) and still took me nearly a week of evenings to run the cable through the van to a windscreen rear mirror(had to buy a rear mirror as van did not come with one but thankfully had the windscreen mount). Took power from the fuse area with one of those fuse splitter on ebay and manually turn it on when I'm going to be reversing and really happy with it. Supplements the rear sensors very nicely and replaces them when the bikes are on the towbar. Got it on parkingcameras.com for just a tad under £200.
