Help needed. We have had our Swift Kontiki 669 for past six years, just returned from two weeks in France before we went away we had an issue with the reversing alarm, in that it would not switch off so we got an auto electrician to change it for a new alarm thinking that this would solve the issue. It did seem to but in the last few days the alarm has been sounding when the vehicle is not in reverse gear. The only way to quieten it is to put the lights on. The other problem is when the reversing alarm is sounding the back lights are dimmed and brake and indicators can't be seen. The inside reversing camera also comes on. When we switch the engine off it continues and all the dashboard lights remain on even with the key taken out and we have to leave lights on so that no one is disturbed by the 'this vehicle is reversing' constant. Eventually it does go off and then it can be fine for a while but then comes back. It can work normally only sounding when reversing and then all of a sudden you can be driving down the road indicate and brake and it will start sounding as though in reverse. Any ideas why this could be happening would be appreciated. As said we've had this van for over 6 years and everything was fine until just recently. Many thanks.

As TB1 says. It is likely to be the common earth feeding the rear light cluster(s).
