Hello,

I am about to setup a reverse camera on my Ducato Free Campus, but struggling with the wiring.

I have 2 cables :

1) The AV one, which has a weird green connector at the back, and a regular yellow RCA + DC on the front.
Never seen such a green connector like this before, and could not find any info on it.
Is this a custom connector ?

2) A 3-wires power cable : black, red/green, white
Black is Ground
Red/Green seems to be permanent +12V DC
But no idea what the white is : would you have an idea

Thanks a lot for your help.

Rgds

I must assume that this unit is second hand ??, if so enquire of the seller, the yellow plug is a "phono" plug and I would change the crimped plugs to one female (live), so that there's no confusion when connecting

The green socket is probably a multi-pole jack socket for power & video. You don't say what the white connector fits but white lead is possibly video.

Thanks guys, you are right

The green connector is supposed to be connected to a ZENEC camera using a 4 pin jack

So either I wire a similar male jack, or I can use an existing adapter.

The white connector is still a mystery. My van dealer is not sure, and said he could be the original camera wiring of the Ducato...
Still, assuming white wire is video I would not understand why Red/Green is permanent DC, and not APC, as this would mean camera always turned on...
If this is supposed to be original, then I shall be able to locate the colored wires somewhere in a fuse box of engine battery.

Will keep digging further.

Thanks for your help

I wired my cameras to the ACC feed to the stereo so they are on with the ignition.

our reverse camera is wired to come on with reverse gear

Hello,

I gave up on trying to find a proper 2.5mm narrow 4pin jack.
So, just cut the plug and will redo a new connection.

One question for the experts :
I can either :
- Solder a new RCA socket
- Take an existing RCA cable, cut the wires and solder the wires only (+thermo sleeve) ; may be easier to do

Is there any better option you would recommend?

Thanks a lot

Sounds like your doing the same as I am.
assorted fittings for two cameras. I ended up having the find some adapter leads from the internet
and there coming from China. Hope that’s all there going to send

I have used aviation plugs and sockets for dry work and waterproof 6 pin fittings outside.
when everything should be here in the new year to complete the front / rear reversing cameras.

My white wire is for reverse, the camera comes on when reverse is selected. I believe that it connects to earth when reverse is selected through the white wire.

Might this help? It's from the installation manual for the Zenec rear camera. However the 3.5mm jack seems to have only three wires.
Also two photos of the rear camera setup on our Hymercar Ayres Rock (so same as a Free).
