I've noticed that the main rooflight in our Bolero has started to leak again, same place as before which was resealed by a reputable caravan repairer a couple of years ago. It may well have been caused by too much exposure to sun (!!!) but whatever, I need to reseal it and thought I'd have a go at doing it myself, doesn't look difficult. Meanwhile if I leave it parked slightly nose down it doesn't leak.

My question is what sealant should I use? I've also seen rolls of sealing strip but that would possibly mean I have to completely clean off the old sealant. Any opinions please?

And whilst I'm doing this, I appear to be missing a few of the small metal grip attachments that the cover slots into - any idea where I can get them?

It needs removing completely, clean the vent up of old sealant, clean the roof thoroughly and then sit on a good bed of Hodgsons seamseal CV, then tighten up. That's what I do.
Other stuff is available, a lot now use the tape I think.

Its a bit of a messy job I used everbuild butyl sealant, as long as its rated as a non setting you should be ok, I have never had a lot of success with the tapes . Hardest part might be finding out how to remove the roof vent, some are hidden behind removable inserts
Just take your time and get it clean before you start to replace

Thanks Mike - it's actually quite easy to get to the mounting screws. I'll go look for some sealant now. Then wait for a sunny day...............

Just a bit disappointed that the previous "repair" didn't last so well.

Although I used everbuilds' butyl , most caravan dealers will stock a bedding sealant
Best wishes
Mike
