A few years van life, but not on the road
Hi all.
Newbie to the forums here.
Recently obtained a Fleetwood Jamboree Rallye 1989 RV and trying to find where to get a roll of aluminium to replace the roof. Found a supplier stateside but unable to locate anywhere in the UK.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

I was going to Liquid rubber the roof but after prepping it found far too many holes from corrosion. It spent many years as a liveaboard in europe in its past life and suffered from a lot of trapped condensation.

Hi Mister B.
I have not fully decided yet. Still exploring options.
I liked the idea of ripping off the old Aly, removing the rotted roof, sorting out the gaps with expanding foam, laying a new marine ply layer then rolling and bonding the Aly sheet.

I'll be pulling down the ceilings at some point and putting in a vapor barrier of some sort. If they did that when they built it I guess this would not have happened!

I have been told I can get a fiberglass "roll" similar to the aly but have not found anything yet.

When we reshelled my german coachbuilt a few years ago we could only find painted van roof aluminium on the roll 2m wide so if you need it wider 🤷‍♂️
Eltheringtons used to be a good supplier, contact was wendy thacker
We found that normal aluminium suppliers had it on the roll 3m wide but it was quite thick, even an extra 0.2mm can weigh a lot on a 7m length

How about speaking to a domestic roofing company? We had a fairly large flat roof done in fiberglass a few years ago after it came highly recommended. Also there is EPDM rubberised roofs. If I was in your position I would speak to the manufacturers first, not the contractors, and discuss the possible implications of movement.

Check out truck/trailer body shops, when they replace trailer roofs they get aluminium sheets on rolls up to 40ft long and 8ft wide
