Replacement for Pace Javelin sky box (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys,

After ten years of faithful service my Pace Javelin box is starting to give problems (losing satellite signal) and I am thinking of replacing it with one of these :-



Has anyone any experience of these? I am hoping that I can just connect the cable from the dish to this box and instantly get TV. Am I on the right track?

I am hoping to get freesat and sky channels, anyone know if this will work?

Well, it will not get Freesat, and it will only get the three free Sky channels. (Sky News, Pick, and Challenge) since it has no card reading ability. It will not get Freesat as it is not a Freesat branded receiver (so no 7 day programme guide or automatic channel updates, or the freesat channel list), but it will still get all the free UK TV channels.

"I am hoping that I can just connect the cable from the dish to this box and instantly get TV." - you will need to select the correct satellite and starting a channel scan before you can watch TV, so no, not "instantly"

Better still, if you nip over to Northern Greece you can have the one sitting in the garage, no need to wait until May.

Have now found a refurbished Pace Javelin box, which should get us back on the road and see the news in the mornings.

I think I have a Pace Jevelin in the loft somewhere. Last time I had it paired with a Sky card it was a bit of trial, involving some specialist tech help as the frontline CSRs didn’t know how to do it. Anyone know if this is still a challenge now, as I may dig it out to see if it still works?
