Our motorhome came with a TV and telescopic aerial. After a couple of months, we hadn't used the TV and it was in an annoying position, so I removed it. A year later, I'm thinking about improving my spotty MiFi reception by installing a roof mounted antenna.

The TV aerial looks like one of these:

If I rip it out, will it be easy to reuse the hole for a 5G antenna? What might I have to consider? Will I need a plate and reseal the hole, or will an antenna just drop and seal over the top?

I replaced our Vison plus Ariel with one of these

Poynting MIMO-3-V2-15

, fitted over the hole no problem

I fitted one of these in a new hole. Great piece of kit.

I think that my antenna pole is larger than the MIMO hole, so you may need to pack the bushing to get it wobble free. Stips of plastic Ice Cream carton are always a good start. The MIMO provides the roof seal so no problem there, and no Sikaflex needed.

in the MIMO kit it provides two different size bushes the larger of the two fitted and while the mimo comes with a self adhesive pad to sick to the roof i still used a bead of silka flex - been there for two years and not moved yet (y)

I replaced our vision plus with the motorhomewifi aerial kit. Straight into the old hole. No need to seal just pull out aerial, clean and fit new one. You can use the power lead for the old amp to power the new kit. 👍🏻
